Prusament PLA Lightweight: foaming PLA for lightweight parts

1 min read

Prusa says its new foaming PLA can produce prints up to 65% lighter, targeting RC models, drones and other weight-sensitive parts.

Prusa’s new Prusament PLA Lightweight relies on foaming during extrusion. Heat activates additives in the filament, causing the extruded material to expand and form a more porous structure.

Prusa says finished parts can be up to 65% lighter than standard PLA. The material is aimed at RC models, drones, cosplay components and other weight-sensitive applications.

Because foaming depends on temperature, this is not simply a lighter PLA: slicing and thermal settings directly affect the final density.

Commodore 64 Ultimate Returns: A Retro Legend, Not a 3D-Printed One

Commodore.net has officially relaunched its legendary home computer as the Commodore 64 Ultimate, rebuilding the classic machine on modern FPGA hardware. We cover it here as a curiosity: it has no direct 3D printing angle, since the case is produced with classic injection molding using the original 1986 tooling, not 3D printing.
